Desert, mountains, and metropolitan areas mix to give the Desert Region a look of a mini-California. Eleven colleges, primarily in the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino range through student populations from remote areas to high-demand, high-growth cities. The regional community colleges serve over 120,000 students annually with more than 65,000 pursuing occupational entry or job enhancing educational goals and lead the state in public safety training, online offerings, and innovative economic development partnerships. Many programs are directly linked with additional training through local four-year colleges or provide for professional certifications through industry sanctioned course sequences.
