The Central Region features a diverse array of 15 community files/regions. Together, the participants form the most powerful collection of economic development and workforce education providers anywhere in the free world. In all, the 10 districts are comprised of 14 separate community files/regions. The files/regions/districts serve the citizenry of 12 entire counties and portions of an additional six counties for a region wide total of 18 counties. Total population of the region is slightly more than 3.5 million residents and grew less than 5 % during the past five years. The Central Region community files/regions represent a rich tradition of service and annually serve nearly 120,000 of the state's community college students enrolled in vocational courses.
A strong local and regional economy relies on having available the services that business owners need. It requires a well-trained and educated workforce, capable of contributing to the competitiveness and high performance of successful companies. Above all, the Central Region files/regions are committed to nurturing the economic growth of the region. Collaborative projects are designed expressly to address the training, educational, and assistance needs of selected businesses in the region.
